Independent Work Travel Experience

Are you a returning participant who wants to find your own job this visit?
Are you the adventurous type that wants to travel to the United States and find your own employment*?
The Independent Work Travel Experience Option is for you!
It is perfect for those of you who want to ‘do it yourself’. It does give you the freedom to choose the location and job in the United States that suits you. This Option does not include a job placement but does come with certain ACAWE assistance, which includes:
- An ACAWE Independent Work Travel Experience Handbook covering all the basics including employment, housing, insurance and lots of important information which will assist you during your time in the United States.
- Contact information for both the ACAWE US Staff and your home country representative.
- 24 Hour Support and Emergency Assistance
What will ACAWE provide for you?
- J-1 Work Travel Visa Sponsorship
- DS-2019 Form Certificate of Eligibility
- Up to 20 weeks of health insurance coverage (for an additional fee)
What is required of you?
- Valid proof of health insurance if you do not choose the ACAWE Insurance Option.
- Updating ACAWE within 10 days of arrival with your current location and job details.
- Informing ACAWE any time during your time in the United States when you change locations, including residence and employment.
How it works?
- Contact ACAWE for program information and eligibility.
- We collect all fee (varies by country of origin) and prepare documents for submission.
- We assist you with your visa application process.
- Once approved for your Visa, we provide you with ongoing support as soon as you arrive in the USA
*According to the U.S. Department of State regulations for the Summer Work Travel Program, a J-1 SWT Participant cannot be employed as a domestic worker in a household, a childcare provider, a camp counselor or any job that involves door-to-door sales. |
